Cages
Dwarf hamster cages are not generally available to our
knowledge.
There are adaptations for you to make on regular hamster
cages that will make life easier for your dwarf hamster.
Dwarf hamster cages tip #1
If there are smooth vertical tubes incorporated into the
design of the cage, then the addition of ‘mouse’ ladders will make it
possible for a dwarf hamster to climb a lot easier. Just hooking the
ladders over the top lip or the tube may only result in them being
dislodged within a few hours. We made small holes just below the gnaw
rings allowing the ladder hooks to be pushed through the plastic from the
inside. The ladder was also secured to the tube lower down, to keep it
tight against the plastic. In our experience, if this is omitted then the
hamster may get trapped behind the ladder and will not be able to move up
or down.
